A ranking policeman that leaped to the aid of a fellow officer that got attacked by a knife attacker was granted the King's Commendation for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he held a weapon to the neck of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in mid-2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to PC Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a stun gun.

"Officer stabbed," the constable could be heard saying over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and dashboard camera footage made public by the agency revealed Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a hood up, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon extended.

He struck the policeman who tripped and dropped to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being continually attacked with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a clear shot, concluding the struggle to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "I need assistance on my neck now, I got knifed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell suffered multiple deep cuts to his neck and more wounds to his arms and torso, whereas Sgt Foster experienced slash wounds.

Authorities stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his fellow officer's hemorrhaging before emergency responders reached the scene.

This most recent honor comes after the trio of policemen received organizational Courage Honors in fall 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the regional union branch in early 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Bravery Award in July 2024.

"The efforts of all three officers eventually saved one another and meant no bystanders experienced any harm."

Brown received a sentence to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, according to authorities.
